Andrew Lacon is a British artist who will be in residence at SOMA as part of the exchange program between SOMA and Grand Union, part of the Dual Year between United Kingdom and Mexico.

During this residency, Lacon will continue his research on the forms of exhibition and presentation of sculpture, fosucong on the material and colours used in pre-hispanic sculptures and baroque churches. Lacon will research Fernando Gamboa and his touring exhibition ‘Mexican Art, Ancient and Modern’ and the inspiration taken from Frederick Kiesler.

Lacon will be developing ideas and works through plans for sculptures, photographs and sketches before continuing to develop this work in the studio in Birmingham.
